The Dumbing Down Of America Is Complete

This shocks the hell out of me.

75 Percent of Oklahoma High School Students Can't Name the First President of the U.S.

It's not just Oklahoma, either.

A thousand students were given 10 questions drawn from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services item bank. Candidates for U.S. citizenship must answer six questions correctly in order to become citizens.

About 92 percent of the people who take the citizenship test pass on their first try, according to immigration service data. However, Oklahoma students did not fare as well. Only about 3 percent of the students surveyed would have passed the citizenship test.

Dutcher said this is not just a problem in Oklahoma. He said Arizona had similar results, which left him concerned for the entire country.

"Jefferson later said that a nation can't expect to be ignorant and free," Dutcher said. "It points to a real serious problem. We're not going to remain ignorant and free."

Just what the fuck are they teaching kids these days?

  1. They are teaching kids how to be good little zombies. They are teaching them to be submissive employees and government subjects. Good parents (like me) counteract the government educational brainwashing with the foundations of Freedom and Liberty, as well as good citizenship, charity, and all those other things that are long gone in this country. Critical thinking skills have gone by the wayside, because most kids these days are simply being taught how to pass standardized government tests. Their crackhead parents don't give a fuck, or their single parents are too fuckin' busy trying to keep their heads above water to counteract the bullshit being pumped into their childrens' heads. The few two-parent households left are both working, trying in vain to maintain their "socially acceptable" McMansions and flashy Beemers, or on the lower end of the financial scale, trying to tread water like so many others. Our kids are suffering for our blind consumer lifestyle, and government cornholing. This shit needs to end, or we're all fucked.....

  2. The kids are insisting on
teaching the teachers how to text message.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

They are teaching them to work, shut up, go to the mall and spend money on useless things as their only form of entertainment and social acceptance.

  5. Glad to see you are getting on this subject. BTW, last I read, 1 out of 3 who start HS fail to graduate. cThat is either just here in Texas, or nationwide, I don't remember which. I have read art. that state just how the schools are cheating re their actual graduation rates. 1 HS in Austin TX was closed after it was discoved that their actual grad rate was only 2%. And that had been covered up for several years.
We are turning into a country of imbeciles and idiots. Our schools need to get back to basics. Throw out the damn standardized tests and go back to the end of term end of year test like I had back in the 60s. We need reading, writing, arithmatic, geography, government and history. Instead of crap like throwing several subjects into civics class. My kids all graduated years ago. My youngests graduating class was 28. Mine back in 68 was 93. Smaller schools, smaller class sizes and stop teaching to the dumbest kid in class. The kids don't need coddling, they need a challenge. Many who drop out do so because they are flat out bored. Self esteem is fine, but not if you have no idea how to act as an adult. Adults fail and if kids can't handle failure then we as a nation are so screwed

  6. I think Mayberry nailed it best. I posted on this the other day. In our state they're talking about lowering the standards to D for HS graduation. Just what we need more Bushs.
