Libby Dodges a Bullet (Literally)

Scooter Libby found out he is not above the law yesterday.
Judge Reggie Walton sentenced him to 30 months in prison, a 250,000 dollar fine, 2 years of probation and 400 hours of community service.
All fine and dandy.
Crack dealers get more time in prison than treasonous bastards these days.
So far, Cheney's role in betraying Valerie Wilsons covert identity has gone unpunished.
But it has not gone unnoticed, Patrick Fitzgerald said that "there is a cloud over the Vice President.".
I am not gloating over Scooters predicament, I really wish that he had come clean about the whole thing so that there could be some accountability for this terrible deed.
There was some last minute details about the sentencing guidelines that have to be straightened out, it will not affect the total amount of prison time Scooter will have to serve.
Apparently the judge is going to rule out bail and Scooter will start serving his sentence in 45-60 days.
In the mean time, the Wilsons have a civil suit pending that has been bubbling in the background and Valerie has been wrangling with the CIA so she can get her book published.
I wish all the best to the Wilsons, they are the epitome of patriotic Americans. They certainly did not deserve to be set upon by the jackals in the Whitehouse and put through the wringer with the full force of our government. Especially for speaking truth to power.
