So much for Summer

My fucking furnace kicked on two weeks ago in the middle of the night, in August.

Nasty smelling shit went through the joint for a couple of minutes, you know what I am talking about.
Hey, at least it still works.
It has been getting down into the fifties at night around here for a while now.
I just kicked it on for a few minutes to knock the chill off.
We had a weird assed Summer around here this year.
It rained like a cow pissing on a flat rock all the way to the end of June.
Then it got nice, then it got wicked hot for a bit and it rained all fucking day today, still is.
Fall is here just a bit early.
I felt it change all at once about this time of year the last two running.
This year it is a bit different but I heard a couple of other people mention it and I can certainly agree.
Fuck.
I haven't got shit done that I wanted to do yet it seems.
I spent the last week at my folks while they were on an Alaskan cruise, volunteering to help take care of my Grandmother who fell off the toilet the same day my folks left and broke her wrist. My Mom's friend was there to take care of her but when I heard about that, I had to go.
It was a good thing as it took two of us to take care of her, she can't see or hear hardly and couldn't walk three fucking feet. We were busy.

At this point, I would like to take a moment and seriously thank a few people who donated some hard earned cash to the cause.
I almost don't know what to say, other than thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

I am still in shock that someone would do that for me.
Blind sided actually.
I will be using that to pay the bill for the internet connection and then I will be ranting and raving again.
Are you sure that's what you wanted to do?
Thanks again, seriously.

Back to the weather, my garden didn't do shit this year and every one I talk to says the same thing.
It is going to cause me to completely rethink what I need to do over the winter.
I was hoping to have some kind of Indian Summer but at the rate it is going now, I ain't counting on it.
I have kind of been out of the loop when it comes to the news lately but I already know what is coming and it is going to be extremely fucking ugly.

Do what ya can and try and take care of each other, we are all we have.

Thanks fer stopping by.

So It Begins

I got a bonus present for my birthday, another fucking cold.
I felt it coming on Sunday night and true to form, I am in bed today, hacking and coughing, tickle in the throat, my head is completely plugged up and I have a sinus headache just for fun.
I hit the Nyquil after I woke up this morning with all the above, plus my eyes were glued shut with crusty shit.

Yay.

I got up at noon and started to drive to work and stopped at the nearest convenience store to get some kind of cold remedy, oh fuck no.
By the time I got out of there, my head was pounding and I was sneezing and hacking constantly.

I am so sick of being sick!

I finally had some relief about an hour ago.
I spent some time on line looking at seed outfits, the garden bug is biting me too. I tried to order some on line but fer some damn reason, it wouldn't take my card even though there is enough mony to cover it easily. The damn thing has been giving me fits lately when I try to swipe it too. Fuck that noise.

I dragged my narrow ass out of bed and went three blocks down the road to the Feed Store and collected quite a variety of seeds for this coming Spring.

I also got a wild hair up my ass and bought 50 fucking pounds of something that I am going to have to get my shit together to process and store but hey,I got it out of the way at least.

While I was online earlier, I also surfed around a site called LocalHarvest Dot Org that you can use to look around anywhere in the country to find local farms and farmers markets and actually found a lady less than a mile from me who sells fresh eggs, the occasional chicken and manure to compost. Quite the score if she emails me back.
Check it out.

Anyway another round of uncontrollable hacking is upon me and I can feel a fever too. I am going to see if I can't burn this off.

Got seeds?
If not, they are forecasting shortages for some seed types, food shortages in general and who knows what the fuck else here in the near future. I don't need a tin foil hat, I don't trust these motherfuckers anyway.
Get off yer ass, I did.

Bustedus Domesticus, Garden Update

One word,
Crazy.

My peas are all done, I need to compost what is left and weed it. turn it over and put something else in there.
The tomatoes are going gangbusters, The Squash is getting ready to.
I have three cuke plants, one of which I can hardly keep up with.
I think the onions are done, I am disappointed in them, they never really took off.
I am going to have to find a fork to dig up the potatoes, the vines are dying off.
My green beans went completely apeshit, they are tangled up in the squash, ya can't tell where one starts and the other stops.
I have some herbs I need to get harvested and get the dehydrator fired up for some of this other stuff.
Going to be busy fer a while here soon.

Taking A Break

Just a little time out, be aware that these fucking assholes from the Retardlican Party who are trying to derail health care just for bragging rights are not going unnoticed.

Dirty fucking sonsabitches.

I also bagged my first squash and some pickle sized cucumbers.

What the fuck am I supposed to do with a small squash?

Update;
As Mayberry pointed out, the Blue Dogs are also very much to blame here, wouldn't want to leave those pricks out either.

Playing In The Dirt

My buddy gave me some corn plants he culled so I was out making room for them yesterday.
I went up to his place to get them and gave him some advice on how to thin his plants, he was complaining about his onions and radishes not doing so well.
Dude, they can't be right next to each other in a big bunch.
He thinned them out and now wants to replant them.
He has time for the radishes, I don't know about the onions.
Speaking of onions, my white ones are doing great but the red ones I put in at the same time aren't doing worth a shit, weird.

I found a cucumber I didn't know was there, snagged a yellow wax pepper to go with dinner and made a huge mistake by putting in pole beans instead of bush beans.
Live and learn.

YUM!!

I got home tonight and went straight out to the garden to give it a drink, it got just a little bit hotter than what I heard it was going to be today.
While I was showering my little lovelies, I spotted a fairly large patch of red over in the strawberry division so I sauntered over there and started picking picking some of the luscious little morsels and popping them in my mouth.

Delicious!

I don't have a ton of them but I am going to get mine before the birds have a feeding frenzy.

I see something has been pecking at a few.

Worthless cats.

My potato patch has turned into a jungle, I see little baby Banana peppers coming on and some tomatoes are starting to flower.

All in all, so far so good.

I think I must have scared the neighbor lady, don't surprise me, and if she doesn't get off her behind, I am going to put in another bed of something.
Radishes, stuff that grows fast and I can graze on while I am waiting for the rest of it to grow.

I loves grazing in a garden!

Hitting The Shower.

Holy shit.
When someone tries to tell you that putting in a garden ain't work like I did, smack 'em with a shovel.

Holy Cow.
85 degrees outside and I am trying to transplant some Strawberries that decided to volunteer, along with a bunch my Uncle brought me in containers.
Creative gardening.
I got tired of trying to keep from stepping on the little darlings and made a new "Raised bed" for them and transplanted the hardy little shits. It ain't a raised bed, I threw some boards down so I won't tromp on the little fuckers

Fuck me, that shit is work.Digging shit up and digging holes to put it in at seven O'clock and it is still 80 fucking degrees out.

I will be very happy in sixty days.

If they live and the damn birds don't get to 'em, I will soon forget how fucking hot it was and how much I stink right now. I need to get some chicken wire.

I have a wedding to go to Saturday and a graduation party on Sunday and I just might bail the fuck out of both of those shortly after showing up.
I am behind on my beauty sleep.

Signing off and hitting the shower, doing the world a favor.

FEED ME, Seymour! It Liiiiives!

My garden, that is.
I got off work and went out back to spray it down, just like I have been doing for a week and a half after I put a bunch of seeds in the ground, and there they were.

My little babies!

I been really worried that the damn things weren't going to sprout because it gets so much sun out there during the day the ground dries out.

Turns out my ministrations have not been to no avail.
I have peas, beans, and squash that all sprouted and grew two freaking inches since yesterday, I also have strawberries coming on hard, with volunteers no less, and everything I actually went and bought is going gangbusters.

The volunteer potatoes are scaring me.
I am going to have so many potatoes I am going to have to figure a way to keep them somehow, I am hoping the onions will do well too.
There just might be some kind of on the cheap root cellar in my future. That is why I love the internets, I have already found several ways to do that.

I still have more stuff I want to plant, that's why I was breaking my ass last weekend, to make more room.

WOOT!

I am flat out tickled, pink even.

I even bought a couple of Gourd plants, my Granny used to grow some every year and they can be handy as hell after ya dry them out.

This is going to be a very steep learning curve for me in the coming months but I am an extremely quick study.
I WILL , remember, learn and do, what it takes to get what ever grows to maturity put away for this coming winter.

Count on it.
